Seafood processing combines the two conditions that make hygiene equipment fail earliest: constant water and salt. Fish, shrimp and shellfish plants wash down continuously, run chilled and ice-water slurry lines, and move product in plastic crates that come back from auction halls, markets and cold stores. Because the soil is different in each type of seafood operation, the equipment mix is different too. · Salt and chloride are present every day. In seafood plants the washdown water carries salt from the product itself, so frames, conveyor chains and fixings are wet and saline year-round. Material, plate thickness and drainage design matter more here than in any other food sector.
· Slime and scales stick, then dry. Fish slime and scales bond to plastic and stainless surfaces. Dried onto a crate or a cart shelf, they are considerably harder to remove than fat or blood.
· Ice-water slurry moves soil into corners. Chilled water that holds product also carries organic load into tray stacks, cart wheels and floor joints - places a hose cannot reach.
· Continuous washdown redistributes soil as fast as it removes it. In a permanently wet hall, the cleaning process has to take soil out of the environment, not move it around it.
· Containers come back from outside the plant. Crates and boxes travel to auctions, markets and customers, so washing has to be a fixed step in the daily routine rather than an occasional project.

Filleting halls are the crate capital of a seafood plant. Boxes and crates arrive from the filleting tables, from chilling rooms and from customers, and each one has to be washed before it goes back on the line. A tunnel-type machine washes them continuously: containers feed on a dual-track conveyor through heated, high-pressure spray stages. Two details matter in a seafood plant specifically. The heated pre-wash stage does the initial work on dried slime and scales before the main wash, which is why the machine is built with a dedicated first stage rather than a single spray zone. The hygienic point of the design is water separation: wash water is collected in a circulation tank, filtered and reused for the main wash steps, while the final rinse uses fresh water from a separate clean water tank. That means the last water to touch the cart has not already carried soil from the previous one - a simple principle, but one that fixed-spray manual cleaning cannot achieve. Shellfish and shrimp halls run wetter and heavier than most filleting lines: product is held in chilled brine or ice water, shells and organic slurry end up on trays and floors, and staff work in waterproof aprons for the whole shift. Three pieces of equipment carry most of the load.
First, hand hygiene. A stainless steel hand washing and disinfection station combines an induction faucet, soap dispenser, disinfectant dispenser and hand dryer in one 304 stainless steel unit, with configurations from one to five stations. Second, workwear. Waterproof aprons are the working uniform in a shrimp or shellfish hall and they cannot wait for an external laundry. The apron washing machine is a 1,000 x 650 x 1,500 mm stainless steel cabinet driven entirely by water pressure with no electrical connection, automatic dosing of cleaning and disinfectant agents, and a wash / disinfect mode selected by a single knob.
