Capacity is the first number a plant manager asks about, and the rated throughput is up to 60 carts per hour. Sizing, however, is rarely about the peak rate — it is about daily volume and how the wash bay is staffed.
As an illustration, take a plant turning over 300 trolleys across a 16-hour double shift. At up to 60 carts per hour, the machine can process the full daily volume in roughly five hours of operation, leaving the remaining time for staffed loading and unloading around shift patterns and for the self-cleaning cycle. A smaller operation with 120 trolleys per day might run the machine for only two hours.
The point is that the limiting resource changes: manual cleaning is constrained by labour and shift hours; an automated washer is constrained only by the loading and unloading rhythm around the machine.

Placement follows the flow of the trolleys, not the convenience of the building. The wash bay should sit between the point where dirty trolleys accumulate and the point where clean trolleys are stored, with a clear separation so washed and unwashed carts cannot be mixed.
Practical requirements include a level concrete base rated for an 800 kg machine plus a loaded trolley, a floor drain for the rinse discharge, steam (0.1 MPa), tap water (≥ 0.2 MPa) and power connections, and headroom for the 2,160 mm lifting station. Meat plants usually pair the wash bay with the wider hygiene flow — from the changing-room entry through the air shower room and boot washing machine to the production floor — so equipment selection at one checkpoint stays consistent with the logic of the others.
Automation projects are approved on cost structure, not on a single price tag. Four components deserve attention:
