Introduction

Alimentaria FoodTech 2026 closed on 8 October after three days at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via venue. Henger was there, at Booth 430-1, with the same five product lines we showed in Kuala Lumpur in September.

This is a short thank-you to everyone who walked in - and a note for those who could not get to Barcelona this time.

The Show

Alimentaria FoodTech is the Spanish trade fair for food and beverage processing technology, packaging and ingredients, organised by Alimentaria Exhibitions at Fira de Barcelona. The 2026 edition ran from 6 to 8 October in Hall 2 of the Gran Via venue, covering the production chain from raw material through to distribution.

It runs on a three-year cycle, so visitors tend to arrive with specific projects rather than general interest - several years of equipment development get compared in one visit. The organiser reports more than 370 exhibitors and close to 15,800 professional visitors from 30 countries at the previous edition.

What We Brought

Five lines were on the stand: fruit and vegetable processing equipment; slaughtering and meat processing machinery; dairy and beverage production lines; workshop cleaning equipment and stainless steel tools; and cold storage and refrigeration solutions.

On the hygiene side, that meant the equipment this site focuses on - crate washing machines for container loops, boot washing machines at the personnel entry, and apron washing machines for garments: the steps that sit between the raw material arriving and the packing line running.

What People Asked About

The conversations were practical rather than commercial. Visitors arrived with a layout, a headcount or a container count, and wanted to know where a step should sit and what it needs to run.

Three themes came up repeatedly. How to keep a cleaning result consistent and recordable. How to move people and containers through an entry without building a queue at shift change. And how to handle containers that arrive from a field or a return loop rather than from a controlled area.

These are design questions rather than product questions, and they are answered better with a drawing than with a datasheet - so the follow-up work from Barcelona starts with layouts.
